A Week In Rhodes

So if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you would have seen that I've recently been on a jolly holiday - to Rhodes in Greece. I hadn't been away for a relaxing holiday for quite a while and I had such an amazing time, I feel like I really recharged my batteries.

I stayed at the Sheraton Rhodes Resort which is just a short drive from Rhodes Town. I've never stayed at such a lovely hotel, I felt a princess - from our room that looked onto the beautiful Aegean Sea to the scrumptious buffet breakfast where I've never seen so much choice! As beautiful as the hotel was, it was the staff who made it extra special - nothing was too much trouble and they really spoilt us!

On the first night we were there we had the most delicious meal at their Greek restaurant Thea, which looked out on a beautiful view. Our lovely server really helped with picking the best that the menu had to offer and making sure we had the perfect Greek wine to go with it. Other than feta and olives, I didn't really know that much about Greek food - but I was blown away with how lovely it was, it all tasted so fresh and delicious!

I discovered I have penchant for Greek desserts. As I have a massive sweet tooth this is no great surprise, but those syrupy plates of deliciousness are the absolute bomb. It was so nice to have a week a trying new things - some amazing (like the syrupy walnut cake above, some not so - like this octopus).

I loved that the hotel was so close to Rhodes Town, it meant that we could really explore. I loved the Old Town which had gorgeous pebbled streets with lovely little restaurants hidden away (sorry to talk about food again!). I think staying in one of the little B&Bs in the Old Town would make such romantic break, I'm definitely going to try and come back with my boyfriend!

It was amazing just to stroll around and take it all in - everything looked so picturesque, it was like a film set! I swear I could spend day after day there, just sitting outside (with a beer) and watching the world go by. I love a bit of people watching! I have to say, all the Greek people we met were so so lovely - really helpful (considering we didn't know a word of Greek) and so enthusiastic about their island. It as so great to visit somewhere which wasn't super, super touristy - of course, there are the touristy areas - but you can still find the genuine authentic gems!

Realise this was a super picture-heavy post! I think I'm going to do another little one about a couple of trips I did while I was on the island - so check back, if you're interested!
