Make-up: St Tropez vs St Moriz

St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse £20.49
St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse (Dark) £2.95
I should probably say from the start that I am a big fan of fake tan. I also I'm not really for a fake tan that gives you just a subtle change, I am really pale and I need to go up a fair number of shades to look what others would call 'mid tanned'. So this means that my opinions on fake tans may vary massively from a lot of other peoples.

St Tropez - I had been wanting to try St Tropez for so long, I had always thought of it as the holy grail of fake tans. My theory was that the higher the price tag the better the fake tan. Lets just say I do not feel like that any more.
The foam is tinted, which is useful as you can see if you've missed any spots. The fragrance is pleasant enough - still smells artificial but it is not horrendous by any means. I normally put it on at night and then in the morning wash the excess of it off. This is where it starts to get disappointing - I can never see much of a difference in skin colour once I have showered. I find the colour to be nearer that of gradual tanners.
If this was a cheaper product then I wouldn't mind as much but at over £20 I was so disappointed. The price and the hype around the brand really made me expect more.

St Moriz - I first used this about 3 years ago whilst I was at university. As my friends and I were on a tiny budget we used to try out all the fake tans from Poundland and Home Bargains. Seeing as I was used to paying £1 for a bottle of fake tan when I saw St Moriz was around £3 I umm-ed and ahh-ed over the price (that sounds so ridiculous now doesn't it!). In the end I went for it and I have never looked back. Yer it smells, yer it probably is a bit too dark but I love it.
Again, it comes out as a tinted foam and again, the smell is quite bizarre. You do look quite ridiculous when you have it all on, it looks insanely dark. However once you've showered it off the next morning you are left with a really nice and visible tan.
It is not great on dry areas, like knees and elbows but I've found that with all fake tans I've tried. I just think that when you consider the price it is AMAZING.

So I think it is quite obvious which one I prefer! I did get an extremely late Christmas present of the St Tropez lotion the other day so I will be giving it a go and I'll possibly do a post about it. I just can't see myself ever buying anything other than St Moriz whilst I am on the budget I am on now.
I'd love to know your thoughts on either of these, or any other fake tan products!

  1. I go for st moriz over tropez all the time! it's too cheap not to so I don't mind having to reapply a little more often! Also! I found my Dark Mousse in tesco recently for 99p! I think it was being taken off of the shelf! xx

  4. I recently got the St Moriz mousse and I really think it lives up to the hype for the price! Although I got it in medium as I'm naturally very fair and I didn't want it to look ridiculously orange, and I found that after the first shower it's barely noticeable, so maybe I should try the dark.

    1. hmm yes I would go for dark, if the medium is not working for you. The thing is it's so cheap that even if you're not a big fan of the dark one then it's not that much of a waste! Lv x
